Moving to La Center, WA? Consider Stephens Hillside Farm: Small-Town Mornings Near the East Fork Lewis River

Stephens Hillside Farm's built-in park, playground and walking trails mean a lot of day-to-day life here happens without leaving the development.

Add in La Center's small-town setting along the East Fork Lewis River, and the overall pace is noticeably different from denser parts of Clark County.

Local Life in Stephens Hillside Farm

Because the neighborhood park, playground and walking trails were built in as part of the development itself, they function as everyday infrastructure rather than something residents have to drive to.

La Center's original townsite, with its older craftsman-era homes along Pacific Highway and La Center Road, sits close enough that newer Stephens Hillside Farm residents can walk or make a short trip into that older part of town for errands.

The town's small-school-district setup — just three schools total in La Center School District — is part of what keeps the overall pace small-town rather than suburban.

Parks, Trails & Things to Do Near Stephens Hillside Farm

The East Fork Lewis River runs through the area, with fishing and kayaking access. Paradise Point State Park and Holley Park, which has sports fields and a skate park, are both nearby outdoor options beyond the neighborhood's own trails.

Getting Around

La Center sits along I-5, a short drive north of Vancouver. As with anywhere in this corridor, actual drive times rarely match the map, so it's worth a real test drive at the hours you'd actually be commuting.

The built-in park and trails are easy to see in photos, but the overall small-town pace — how quiet the streets feel, how close the river actually is day to day — is something worth experiencing in person before deciding.

Don't see the right home? Inventory in individual neighborhoods can be limited — nearby neighborhoods with similar homes, locations and amenities are often worth a look too.
